🚦 Starting Point: Athens (Days 1–2)
Then there is Athens. You wouldn’t have a proper Greece road trip without it. Make time for two days up front to get a feel for the city’s energy before you are off on the open road.
Must-Sees:
- The Acropolis & Parthenon – You will find ancient Athens in all its glory at the Acropolis and Parthenon.

🏛️ The Peloponnese (Days 3–5)
Make your way across the Corinth Canal and you will be in the Peloponnese, a place where you can sense the weight of Greek history.
Highlights:
There is much to see: The Venetian flair of Nafplio’s seafront, or Mycenae, once home to Agamemnon of the Trojan War. You can visit the Epidaurus Theater to take in an old world performance, or head to Olympia, where the Olympic Games were born.
🛏️ As for where to put down roots, Nafplio is the choice if you are in the mood for romance, while Kalamata puts you in a good position to explore the south of the Peloponnese.
🔮 Delphi (Day 6)
Delphi, perched on Mount Parnassus and in former times known as the “navel of the world”, was where you would find the renowned Oracle
- Temple of Apollo and the old theater, and put in an appearance at the Delphi Archaeological Museum.
- For the night, head to Arachova, a lovely mountain village not far off.
🏔️ Meteora (Days 7–8)
Make your way north and you will come to Meteora, one of the most spectacular places in Greece to see. Here you have monasteries that are perched on top of enormous rock pillars

- Put in an hour or so at two or three of them, such as Varlaam, Roussanou or the Great Meteoron

- Modiano & Kapani Markets – Head over to the Modiano and Kapani Markets where you will find local snacks, spices and the freshest of seafood.
- Nightlife – And when night falls, the waterfront cafés and bars put on a show with live music; the nightlife here has a reputation for being legendary.
🏖️ Halkidiki (Days 11–13)
For a relaxing way to put an end to your road trip, head to the Halkidiki beaches up north of Thessaloniki. The area is famous for its “three legs” and can cater to any taste:
- Kassandra – You will find the resorts, nightlife and family fun in Kassandra.
- Sithonia – Over in Sithonia there are camping spots and some very secluded coves with turquoise water.
- Athos – Then there is Athos, the monastic republic where you need a permit to enter (and it is men only), though a boat tour will give you a view of it.
